Summary:

The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for all areas relating to accounting functions and funding. This position will be responsible for daily, weekly and monthly accounting and funding tasks and activities. The Accounting Supervisor is also expected to make recommendations to the VP Finance for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and funding's. The Accounting Supervisor provides supervision to accounting and funding staff and is responsible to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position must meet tight deadlines and a multitude of activities including funding, balance sheet reconciliation, accounts payable supervision, and variance analysis, research, and resolution. The Accounting Supervisor will have contact with the senior level management team which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Apply a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
Oversee the day to day management of accounting and funding operations such as Accounts Payable, Loan fundings and payoffs, Accounts Receivable.
Support an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close.
Ensure timely and accurate completion of General Ledger reconciliations
Support budget and forecasting activities.
Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Respond to inquiries regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.
Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
Work with direct reports to establish performance goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
Interface with departments/branches to verify transaction report data and issues.
Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
Monitor and complete daily loan fundings and purchases.
Complete Accounts receivable recording, review and processing.
Complete General Ledger reconciliations, as assigned and processing reconciliation items.
Insure timely payment of vendor payment for all Waterstone Mortgage locations.


Individuals in this position shall not engage in loan origination during the course of his/her employment with WMC. Loan origination is defined as (1) taking a residential mortgage loan application; or (2) offering or negotiating terms of a residential mortgage loan for compensation or gain.

SUPERVISORY
Responsibilities: Manage funding and accountants.

EDUCATION and/or
Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a BA/BS in Accounting or Finance or Business Management or equivalent experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in Quickbooks and Microsoft Office (including advanced skills in Excel with the ability to create complex functions/equations allowing for increased efficiency and accuracy). Prior experience with various payroll packages such as ADP (preferred), Paychecks, etc. Prior experience with Encompass is a plus.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
