Summary:
The Payroll and Benefits specialist performs all of the functions required to run a timely and accurate bi-weekly payroll process for Waterstone Mortgage Corporation. The incumbent also has primary responsibility for communicating and administering company benefit programs.
As a member of the Human Resources team, the Payroll and Benefits Specialist will also assist with responding to employee requests and questions, running period audits to ensure HR records are accurate and other responsibilities regarding the service and records of Waterstone's employees.

Essential Job Duties
Payroll:
Performs all necessary functions of bi-weekly payroll as outlined in the standard payroll process. This includes processing of garnishments, insurance and 401(k) deductions, tracking of monthly premiums for individuals designated as employees but out on leave.
Oversees the web-based time and attendance system to ensure all employees' time worked and exception time has been recorded into the system and paid accordingly. Contact managers/branches for any non-exempt employee who does not have hours entered into the time and attendance system.
Knowledge of ADP HRIS.
Ensures all payroll changes are valid, lawful, and have appropriate approvals.
Updates and processes bi-weekly payroll files to contracted vendor.
Maintains HR information systems records and creates reports as requested.
Benefits:
Participates with Waterstone Bank's benefits planning team to design and implement annual benefits programs.
Communicates benefit programs to new employees.
Updates employee census and submits enrollments/changes and termination documents in a timely fashion.
Maintains employee benefit files and updates all employee benefit records.
Assures compliance, record keeping and tracking of COBRA, FMLA, and ADA related events.

Responsibilities:
This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION and/or
Experience: Associate Degree in Human Resources or related field; Bachelor's Degree is preferred. Familiarity with the mortgage industry and its requirements is preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficiency with Microsoft Suite is required. Familiarity with NLMS Website is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Good grammar and diction are required. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, write correspondence and write memorandums is required. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization is required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals is required. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent is required.

CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS: Using excellent customer service skills which includes maintaining a good attitude, taking ownership of meeting customer needs, going the extra mile for customers, demonstrating a commitment to sharpening skills through education and training, using positive communication, and looking for opportunities to respect customers' time and schedules is required.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists is required. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form is required.

The work environment is a professional office environment where a conservative business dress code is in effect. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

WMC's corporate office is open to the public Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. The Human Resources Department operates to reflect Branch hours from 7am to 6pm. This position will require a flexible work schedule during the specified Human Resources Department hours.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
